From the Director

Letter from the Director, February 2014
Dear Friends of Museum Studies:
The days are starting to get a bit longer and the Winter 2014 semester is amazingly nearly halfway through.   The Museum Studies team has been hiding from the snow in our basement office and working away planning our March 14 conference: Museum Technologies/Museum Transformations. We have an exciting lineup of speakers, exploring the dramatic changes occurring in museums as new technologies create diverse opportunities and challenges.  We hope to see many of you there.  We also have a strong line-up of Brown Bag presentations this term; so please bring your lunch and join us for one of our remaining talks.
Among our graduate students, teams from the MSP13 cohort are working with their host museums on this year’s capstone projects.  We thank our three museum collaborators—the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History, Ella Sharp Museum (Jackson, Michigan), and the Grand Rapids Public Museum—for working with us and creating some fascinating challenges for our students to address.  The teams will be presenting their recommendations to the public on Tuesday April 15 and Wednesday April 17 at 6 pm; additional information will be posted on our web site.
Applications for the MSP14 graduate student cohort are due March 1.  Please contact us at if you are interested in applying to our program or would like to learn more about the Graduate Certificate Program in Museum Studies.
And if you are reading this letter, you are at our new web address:
Our old address will continue to work for several months, but be sure to bookmark the new one so that you can continue to find us.  And please do keep in touch; we love to hear from our alumni and MSP friends!
Warm regards,
Carla Sinopoli
